The Nuova Simonelli Mythos One grinder review
Wednesday 26 february 2020 18:45:00 Europe/brusselsThe Mythos One is a household name now for speciality coffee baristas and shop owners. It’s proven itself in barista championships, high output environments in busy coffee shops and that has changed the concept of grinding within the coffee industry.
The Simonelli Mythos One Clima Pro, the name the manufacturer has chosen for this grinder, is a combination of design, high performance and ease of use.
It is a grinder suited for anything up to the highest levels of output seen in locations and climates worldwide. In some locations this can be up to 10kg per day in hot, humid environments and yet the grinder still performs to expectations brilliantly without causing a significant amount of wastage.
It supports super-resistant 75mm burrs (steel, covered with titanium) and an innovative Clima Pro system.
The Italian grinder machine Nuova Simonelli Mythos introduces the concept of the stable temperature inside the grinding chamber. Keeping this temperature stable between 35 and 45 degrees, the Simonelli Mythos One allows the barista to have a constant dose and a very uniform ground, limiting to a minimum the “clumping” phenomenon (even though the clump crusher has to be replaced quite often depending on the volume of the coffee shop).
How to change the clump crusher? The instruction video below shows you how you can easily change it. Want to order a new clump crusher? Click HERE.
The display for adjusting the dose and time of the coffee grinding is very intuitive and quick at the same time; in this way, the barista can apply changes at any time of the day and always have the correct parameters of extraction. There are just 3 buttons to play with: the barista can set three different doses with the first two buttons (from left to right) by simply increasing or decreasing the grinding total time. The third button allows to select the three doses and also to go in continuous mode.
The hopper is an integral part of the coffee grinder and almost seems not to be present, moreover, it is very simple to keep it clean. The only downside is that the hopper, unlike most of the hoppers, develops longitudinally so the coffee beans don’t slide down to the grinder chamber so the hopper needs to be full of beans every time or the beans need to be pushed forward to give the right pressure to the burrs and to achieve consistency shot after shot.
When do I need to replace the Titanium mythos one coffee burrs?
The lifespan of the burrs for a mythos one depends on the volume of coffee you do in a day. Normally for a mythos one you need to change the burrs after 1600 kg of coffeebeans so this means:
You change the burrs after 2,5 years if u do 100 shots a day, after 1 year if you do 250 shots a day and after 6 months if u do 500 shots a day.
