Rob says: I'm always on the lookout for delicious Brazilian, naturally processed coffees. So I kept changing the contents of our Brazil IAN until a year ago when we found a very limited supply of our CASCAVEL VERMELHA.
Brazilian coffees are grown relatively far from the equator, which means that the plantations are at a lower altitude and therefore the (fruity) flavours of the coffee are less pronounced.
In most parts of Brazil, harvesting only takes place once or twice a year, so many unripe cherries are picked. These so-called quakers give a very (pea)nutty taste and a lack of body. In addition, processing is often sloppy, which produces earthy flavours.
This may all sound a little judgmental of Brazilian coffees (and maybe we are a little), but having found our CASCAVEL VERMELHA, we can say that it is a very stable, full-bodied coffee with good value for money that is definitely worth keeping.
